Instagram Comic
I started posting my comics on Instagram to engage with a wider audience and increase their popularity. Due to Instagram’s format, I had to adapt my comics into a horizontal reading style. I also experimented with intuitive readability by occasionally uploading four-panel comics, making them easy to digest at a glance.
NIMFY SYNdROME
About
NIMFY Syndrome is a short comic I serialized on Korea’s WEBTOON Canvas. I used my pen name, NIMFY, as the title and depicted my life in a simple yet quirky way. I also experimented with different formats, including vertical scrolling format and horizontal scrolling format.
Chatacter Design
I created a simplified version of a spineless hedgehog as a character to represent myself. My goal was to design something simple, easy to draw, and instantly recognizable while maintaining a cute and charming appeal. Despite its minimalistic form, I made sure it could express a wide range of emotions. Additionally, I incorporated moments where the character would suddenly transform into a realistic or serious-looking human figure, using these unexpected shifts to create humor.
Illustration samples
From simple, stylized drawings to realistic and detailed illustrations, I can handle a wide range of illustration styles. This versatility allows me to support various illustration projects, including mascot design, with a broad creative spectrum.
Thumbnail Analysis
I compared the thumbnails of amateur artists posting on Canvas with those of professional webtoon artists. I noticed that professional artists often include logos in their thumbnails to emphasize the webtoon title and convey the content’s identity through typography. Using this as a reference, I incorporated a logo into my thumbnail to highlight both a sense of professionalism as a creator and the comic’s witty, and comic tone. Additionally, by using a clean layout and emphasizing the characters, I was able to clearly showcase that the webtoon revolves around charming, character-driven storytelling.
